The Garmin Edge 200 is the newest GPS computer from Garmin and it neatly fills what would otherwise be a bit of a gap in the range. Quite a few cyclists don't actually need or use the full mapping facilities of the higher priced models, so Garmin have introduced the Edge 200 at an entry price level. It also features simplified functioning, so that you don't need to learn a load of technical knowledge to operate it.
On the other hand, users will still get to enjoy the 'HotFix' data from satellites, with easy switching between different bikes. Without the mapping option, the battery life is also increased quite dramatically and the Garmin Edge 200 will give around 14 hours, which should be enough for some pretty serious rides.
Also it can store approx. 130 hours of data from your rides, before you need to plug into a PC for downloading. The simplified design allows for quite easy use of buttons with gloved fingers.
For those who just can't resist competition, the Edge 200 also gives you the option of trying to cycle down a virtual racer, with alert settings to tell you when you have achieved whatever goals you set for yourself.
So if you generally know where you are going on your rides and you don't feel the need for the latest multi-function GPS, then the Edge 200 could be just the GPS computer you need.
